It was held at a stunning five star hotel in Cardiff Bay which jutted out into the harbour (see piccie at the end); we arrived in a convoy of gorgeously mad classic cars! At the front was a police Morris Minor (complete with siren), followed by Chelsea’s white Morris Minor – and behind them were me & Jack in a stunning black 1983 Porsche 911!

The weather on arrival was lovely and sunny (although it tipped down later in the evening); after checking into our gorgeously plush hotel room (complete with a king-size bed, balcony overlooking the harbour, flatscreen TV, iPod dock and a bidet – rofl) which cost us £130 for the night, we were greeted with glasses of bucks fizz and got an hour of drinking in before the meal! The bar was ridiculously expensive (over £6 for a half-glass of Jack Daniels and Coke!) – but it doesn’t take me much to get very silly, so I didn’t spend an awful lot. ;D
The meal was actually really tasty: for starter, we had pea & broadbean soup; the main was roast beef with Yorkshire pud, spuds & veggies; and the dessert was apple crumble with ice cream (although it was full of raisins, which I had to spend ages picking out.. ugh). I had a couple of pints of cider with my meal – much cheaper than the overpriced spirits! I really do love being eighteen, haha.
Following the meal, the lights went down and the music was turned up – but no one got up on the dancefloor! Jack & our friend Josh kick-started it all, getting up there and doing craazy dancing – before long, our whole table joined them! For most of the night, it was mainly our group of friends & a few others dominating the dancefloor – all the others were being such spoilsports. :’D At one point, one of the waiting staff – a posh-looking guy probably in his late fifties – got up and performed an epic routine to a Michael Jackson song, with everyone cheering him on; Jack also did the most awesome moonwalk across the floor, with much crotch-grabbing (his own, of course). There were so many hilarious ”dance-offs” between Jack & Josh, and we all went totally wild when Rick Astley’s Never Gonna Give You Up came on. ;D We know THE GAME and we’re gonna play it! ♫♪ There was also the absolutely classic Time Warp, and watching the guys perform the YMCA at the end was hilarious. :’D I honestly can’t believe that our tickets to the ball were only £5. Crazy stuff.

When the ball was over, Jack & I retired to our gorgeous room.. I can’t go into too much detail here, I’m afraid (we had a good ole’ jump on the bed first, though)! But after, um, everything, we ended up standing on our balcony, looking out over the gorgeous night-lit harbour wearing nothing but the fur throw from the bed. Classy. ;D
I managed to get a brilliant night’s sleep (the bed was sumptuously comfy) before waking up at half eight; Jack & I had “breakfast in bed” (haha) before I made us nice mugs of tea & got ready to leave. I snapped some very cute pictures of Jack sleeping, which I don’t think he knows about yet. Shh.
We got a taxi to the centre of Cardiff (after stuffing the complimentary teas, biscuits, posh bottles of water and toiletries into our bags) and headed straight to Blue Banana (a store very similar to Hot Topic, but better) – I got that adorable yellow “Spooning leads to forking” tee, plus a pink ice-cream necklace and Jack Skellington braces; Jack got purple skinnies, a tee, the same braces, a belt and a buckle.. he ended up spending over £70! Luckily, he won £150 on a scratchcard last week, so he could afford to. c: Lucky thing!
The assisstant absolutely loved us, and gave us two free wristbands to get into a Funeral for a Friend signing they’re having there next week. Fabberoonies! I NEED to get more money before then, because I want those damn purple skinnies for myself. ;D

SO. Sooo. I finished all of my exams a couple of weeks ago, and now I have no idea what on Mars to do with myself! Last month flew by like a bee with its arse on fire; I don’t even feel like I did those exams, they were that much of a breeze. I’m hopeful that I got three out of three As, at least, so I can get my £3,000 scholarship at Cardiff Uni – but the Day of Truth is the 19th of August, so I shall shut my gob until then. c:

IN OTHER NUDES, even though I have now been free from college for well over a month, my summer’s yet to really kick off; there haven’t been any groovy partays so far, but I’ll be sure to let you know when there are! c; At some point I will hopefully be popping down to Cornwall for a week or so with a few best friends; followed hopefully by a weekend road-trip to the Gower in Wales and a couple of camping trips! This is the first time my family hasn’t dragged me on holiday with them – it’s definitely a summer for friends this year! <3

Jack & I have now been together for over 6 months; to celebrate this we had a steak night out at the restaurant I work in. We’re going there again for his 18th on the 23rd! I bought him a top hat & monocle, which he shall be wearing to the meal. ;D I’m also really looking forward to next Friday – the Summer Leaver’s Ball. It’s being held in a 5-star hotel in Cardiff Bay; we get a drinks reception, meal and dance for just £5 – amazing! <3

I really wish I had more to report on, but I promise I will have lots to tell you all very soon! I’m really looking forward to getting out & about with my camera over the next couple of months, so hopefully I’ll have lots of lovely piccies to share with you.

Friday was my last official day EVER at the school I’ve been attending for the last seven years – it’s been one hell of a time! :’D I can’t believe it’s gone so quickly. D: I now have study leave until my exams are over – then I have until the end of September to have an epic time before embarking on my new journey at University!

Before I cut the text and give you the last day in photos, I must tell you these things:

• I have bought a new camera – a Canon 350D (cheap but reliable) – which should be arriving on Monday! It was £285, along with standard lens, bower ring flash, three memory cards, spare battery pack, tripod, and more. Really good value!
• Jack & I celebrated our 5 month milestone on Friday night with the MOST delicious steaks! I definitely prefer mine medium rare – it was perfect. <3 SO many mushrooms ohlordy.
• Exams are in less than a month. I should really start studying. Ohbugger.

On Saturday, I met Jack in town for a couple of hours – where I spent my Boots voucher on some naice new make-up and got a few more hawt little panty-things from Peacocks before chillaxing with Jack by the castle. <3

At six o’clock, we went to Wetherspoons to meet up with everyone – quite a few people came (ooh-err)! However, there had been un petit problem vis-à-vis my damn ID card not arriving, and Spoons is stupidly strict with it – so I was starting to regret arranging it there. When we went inside and spoke to one of the bartenders, she said that they had “forgotten” to reserve us a table and that we would have to be out by nine – lamewads. >: So instead, we popped next-door to the Indian restaurant; the people in there are a bajillion times nicer – they set us up a table, let us all order drinks and gave us amazing service. The food there is delicious – I had a chicken dupiaza and they gave us a tiny pot of tabasco sauce, which a few of us began to confidently eat – that was until our mouths caught fire and we started glowing like beacons! Srsly, that stuff isn’t just spicy – it HURTS. A lot. Jack had so much (plus a chilli pepper) that he had to wait half an hour before he could even eat his korma. :’D

My friend Vicky had baked me some gorgeous little cuppycakes (see below) with “HAPPY 18th KEZ” written on them – there’s even a little strawberry or raspberry inside each one! The waiter took these into the kitchen, and when we’d just finished eating our mains all the lights in the restaurant suddenly went out, and they brought out the cupcakes to a chorus of “Happy Birthday”, complete with candles. It was amazing! :’D

Once we’d paid up, we made our slightly tipsy way back to the castle – a couple of the guys went off to get more drinkies, and soon followed much drunk randomness! I don’t remember an awful lot from this part – but I know at one point, I began to play The Circle of Life from the Lion King and I was lifted up in the air, with everyone else bowing down to me. I AM SIMBA. Yes. I also set off a random confetti champagne bottle popper thingydoodle that we had found earlier in a charity shop – which didn’t make as impressive a noise as I’d hoped, but THERE WERE SHINIES. Shinies are always a good thing.

Jack came home with me and stayed over all yesterday – just vegging out, me in my pyjamas, watching Doctor Who and various movies. The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus is really quite an awesome film! o: Aside from that, the day was just lovely – for once, I didn’t give a damn what I looked like – my hair was a mess, my make-up was everywhere, I was in my most un-flattering clothing; but it didn’t matter, because Jack was there. I’ve never felt this way before – it’s honestly amazing! :3

Waking up in the morning, I was greeted by a whole bunch of bright pink helium balloons – Buffy got almost as excited as me about them, and kept leaping for the ribbons and pulling them down! My parents gave me a bottle of Babycham (which I honestly can’t bring myself to open – the bottle is adorable, with little deer on it) and £200 – I got about another £100 from other family members, all of which I will be putting towards my new camera and possibly a DS. c:

At college, I wore the big pink “18″ rosette my mum got me – so many people were wishing me a happy birthday, it was crazy! :’D The absolute highlight of the afternoon was my best friend Jacob arriving with the most AMAZING cake he had baked himself – it was a delicious chocolate sponge cake, covered in chocolate fudge icing, shaped like a volcano with “lava” running down the sides! He had put one of those mad firework candles in it, and everyone squealed so much when it “erupted”. :’D Best. Cake. Ever. Pictures in the gallery at the end! Jack got me an absolutely stunning silver bracelet, which I can’t wait to wear to my birthday meal on Saturday. <3

And then, my darleenks, came le pièce de résistance – the Flight of the Conchords concert! After a two-hour drive to Birmingham and a ten-minute walk through the city in my ridiculous stillettos (why on Earth did I wear those?), we reached the NIA. The inside was absolutely massive – it’s probably not that big compared to a lot of concert venues, but I’m a very small person – so it was pretty crazy! Again, pics in the gallery. First on was a stand-up American comedian called Eugene Mirman – man, he was funny. :’D One of his best quotes was “I do proper dares – such as BUILD A TIME MACHINE, JACK-OFF IN IT AND SEND IT TO HITLER. That’s a real dare.” xD

And then, after a short musical interlude – out came the Conchords, in full robot headgear, singing their hilarious song Too Many Dicks on the Dancefloor (the video of which you can watch here) – I managed to get some piccies of this before I was told off for using my camera. :’D Throughout the set they alternately played songs and did a bit of funnytalky – a lot of which consisted of Jemaine trying and failing to do a Birmingham accent (which was SO funny) and them telling the most random anecdotes from their previous tours. At one point when they were talking to the audience, Jemaine accidentally hit the mic stand with his guitar and Bret was like “It’s okay, all part of the show!” and Jemaine said, “Hey Bret, tell them all about that time I hit the mic stand with my guitar!” and Bret said, “Oh, you guys, one time in Birmingham we were doing a set and Jemaine hit the- oh hey, you guys were there! You saw it all!” xD Later on in the set, Jemaine asked Bret to tell us the “groupie goldfish” story, which Bret refused. Jemaine then went on pleading with him, saying “You know the one.. with the groupie.. and the goldfish.. and the vagina..” and Bret was like “YES OKAY JEMAINE >:”. Win. :’D
As the duo are from New Zealand, where famously there are more sheep than people, a few members of the audience began to make sheep noises at them during the set. They looked rather amused by this. ;’D Jemaine said “If that is a person imitating a sheep, SHUT UP. If, however, that is a real sheep – welcome to the show!” xD
Next they played The Bowie Song (which you can watch the video of here) – halfway through, the lights dimmed and came back up again to reveal them (and their epic cello player, Nigel) in full sparkly David Bowie-esque vests and tight, tight trousers. ;D HAWT. They even played Albi the Racist Dragon (which again, you can watch here) – Bret couldn’t use the main piano for this, so instead used a ridiculous tiny red mini piano – Jemaine commented “Bret, you look like Elton John. A giant Elton John.” At the end of the song (which is all happy and sweet), Bret suddenly fired up the turntables, yelled “THIS IS A REEEEEMIX!”  and started blasting crazy beats. :’D

When the last song came around, they jumped off the front of the stage – Bret managed to trip and hilariously worked his injury into the song, all tunefully – “Ow ow ow ow ow.. I may have a spinal injuryyy~” When they were climbing back onto the stage near the end of the song, the stage hand that was helping Jemaine managed to rip off his trousers to reveal his wonderful sparkly ones from the Bowie Song performance underneath, and he proceeded to trip about on stage with his trousers around his ankles while the audience pissed themselves. Oh, how I lurb them. :’D

Firstly, Jack came over for two nights last week and we went to see my uncle play at the local pub. I come from a seriously musical family – my dad and his brothers were on a Sky TV talent show in the 70s (in which they came second because the judges didn’t believe they were related), and still occasionally get together and do a few numbers at local pubs. Near the end of their set, my dad joined in and took the lead in the song I Wanna Be Like You from The Jungle Book. :’D It was EPIC, everyone in the whole place was singing along.

And on Thursday, Jack & I went to the zoo! The trip was splenderoonies – but not without some crazy hitches. First of all, after catching the bus from town at 9am, we missed our stop and ended up in the centre of Bristol. We then dashed around madly trying to find a bus that would take us to the zoo – finally, we got on one at about 10 o’clock and arrived at our destination. I haven’t been to the zoo in yonkers, and Jack’s never been at all, so we were both so excited – running and skipping about like little kids. :’D Firstly we saw the huuge lions, then the fruit bats (which were ADORABLE), and explored the aquarium and the reptile house. There was a fishy in the aquarium that was just going along sucking at the glass to get the algae off – Jack kept “kissing” it. Nemo and Dory were in there, too – as well as a really cute pufferfish. Jack & are both obsessed with lizards & snakes, so luurved the reptile house – but the best was still to come!

After some REALLY expensive tomato & basil soup at the café, we skipped off to the monkey enclosures. THERE WERE MACAQUES. And yes, we did act out the zoo scene from this hilarious music video. But the lemurs were even moar awesome! We saw King Julian and Maurice, who sure loved nibbling on carrots. Moving on, we reached the meerkat enclosure – one of my favey animals of all time. Most of the little meerkats were inside their little glass-fronted house, sat on a log – but one, probably the pack leader, was being a total poser; sitting on a post, having his photo taken by everyone. :’D The little baby ones popped out occasionally to dig holes and be generally seriously cute.

The highlight was definitely the butterly forest, though. It was in a huge, humid greenhouse-shed-type-thing – filled with gorgeous butterflies of all shapes & sizes! One really big one was sucking an orange, and there were some really lovely bright orange ones that were extremely attracted to Jack’s shoelaces. ;D The glasswings were amazing, though – they were Jack’s favourite, and one landed on his hand for a long time, which he was so excited about.

The weather was really lovely by now, and to finish off we went to see the penguins – on the way stopping off at the capybara and tapir enclosure. The penguins were supercute, as usual – there was an underwater tunnel system where you could watch them swimming over your head! On the rocks in the middle of the pool, a couple of seals were sunbathing – plus one in the water doing roly-polies & showing off to the crowd. :’D

Once we’d seen everything, we bought some Ben & Jerry’s Chocolate Fudge Brownie ice cream tubs from a vending machine and sat down for a while, enjoying the sunshine, before leaving through the gift shop. I couldn’t resist buying an adorable little penguin plushie (who is now called Pedro), and I bought Jack some hard fruit candies. c:

The next challenge was finding the bus stop to catch the bus that would take us to the mall. I had cleverly left the map at home, so with quarter of an hour to go we were speedwalking around the network of streets, asking directions from random pedestrians. With a minute to go, having no idea where we were, it was pretty obvious we were going to miss our bus – although we got some good exercise! :’D When we finally found our bus stop, we only had to wait 20 minutes for another bus – and eventually, we reached the mall at the front on the top deck of a double-decker.

I needed to look for a dress for the Summer Ball in River Island that I’d seen online – but in the store they didn’t have my size, so we did a bit of browsing. I ended up buying an awesome Beatles Yellow Submarine t-shirt and a nice purple check shirt from H&M, and some black skinnies from New Look – I can finally throw out my old broken ones! c: I also bought two DVDs on sale for £3 each in HMV – Juno and Anchorman, both totally epic films.

At seven o’clock we went to catch our bus home – but had to wait outside in the plummeting evening temperatures for over half an hour, as it was late. Getting back to Jack’s house and finally taking off my shoes was such a relief! :’D

It was my friend Matt’s 18th a short while ago, and to celebrate he held a three-day campout for us all. Here’s a shexy account of all our outdoors shenanigans – plus photos at the end! <3

☆ DAY ONE
Jack & I were the first to arrive, along with a guy we’d never met before called Owen – so we set up our tenties and went skipping off into the muddy woods to collect firewood. Like REAL MEN. ;D I was so glad I wore my welligogs – the guys had to roll up their jeans and look like twits. When we got back, more people had arrived & we admired ze campsite, cracking open the drink (as you do). We had a beautiful view out over the Wye Valley – birds of prey circled overhead, the sun was shining like a big yellow shiny thing.. it was naaice. We were perched on a flat bit at the bottom of the main field; there was a nice toilet block with recycling facilities a short walk away up the hill, along with some caravans and possibly some gypsy-type people. It was all rather groovy. c:

A couple of friends arrived in their cars – whenever one car owner, Dave, disappeared anywhere, we pushed his car around the campsite to confuse him. :’D It began to get very cold – I was wearing leggings, jeans, two pairs of socks, a vest top, long-sleeved top, hoodie, scarf and leather jacket and still felt shivery – so we lit a disposable BBQ (not removing the cardboard like it warned us to, haha) in an attempt to get the campfire going, and sat around it listening to music & having a good ole’ drinky. One guy, Luke, who is very into musicals, ran into the big communal tent when the song Aquarius from the musical ‘Hair’ came on and changed rapidly into this ridiculous hippy outfit – complete with horrifyingly bright patchwork trousers and a tie-dye t-shirt – bursting outside just in time to belt out “This is the daaawning of the Age of Aquarius, the age of Aquariuuuuus~!” Oh lordy. :’D

When we’d arrived, Jack had immediately spotted a rainbow-coloured kite at the top of a very tall tree on the edge of the field, and vowed to get it down. Throughout the day he’d been eyeing it – I didn’t actually believe he’d go for it. But then one minute, he was with the rest of us around the fire – next thing I knew, one of the girls, Rosie, said “Oh my God.. Kez, don’t look behind you.” Of course, I did – to find Jack, right at the top of that tree, pulling down the kite. I swear, I am dating a ninja. <3

As the evening wore on, we grew more & more hungry and began to cook sausages on the fire by wrapping them in foil and sticking them in the embers. It worked a treat – even though I normally hate sausages, I tried one and it actually tasted really delicious! Then, mes amis – it was s’more time. I’d brought along two packs of choccie digestives and marshmallows (which were “wickedly seductive”, according to the packaging) especially for the occasion – and it was surprising how many people had never tried them before! So I introduced them to the wonders of melted marshmallow sandwiched between two choccie digestives. They are divinee~ <3

We all grew tired surprisingly quickly, and ended up going to bed around ten o’clock. :’D The entire night was spent freezing our poor little bottoms off – the wind was incredible, it felt like the whole tent was going to be uprooted and flung down the valley! Jack & I had to do much snuggling, which we weren’t exactly complaining about. ;D THE WIND GODS WERE ANGRY.

☆ DAY TWO
We awoke to the morning chorus of practically every single bird in the entire Wye Valley, and beautiful sunshine. The wind was still buffeting our campsite like a mad vole, but there were soon cups of tea, breakfast sausages and delicious scrambled eggs all round. Jack was being all manly with his RORSCHACH BEANS which he cooked on the fire. ROOAR. >: Some of the guys amused themselves playing Nerf while the rest of us experimented with campfire cooking – we collected some wild garlic from the woods, sterilised it and decided to experiment with it. 8D Here are a few recipes we tried:

Fried Garlic Mushrooms
Spread a large lump of butter into some tin foil, and put some chopped up mushrooms onto it. Add some more butter, plus a couple of shredded garlic leaves – then wrap up well and shove into the fire. Leave for around about 5/10 minutes, turning occasionally – you’ll hear them sizzling. <3 Add pepper to taste.

Garlic Potato with Mushrooms
As before, spread butter onto some tin foil and add chunks of potato and chopped up mushrooms, then shredded garlic leaves and more butter before wrapping up well and sticking into the fire. Leave for around 15 minutes, turning occasionally – keep checking to see if it’s done. c:

Garlic, Potato and Mushroom Chicken Noodles
In a pot of boiled water, add garlic leaves, chunks of potato, chopped up mushrooms  and the chicken seasoning you get with Super Noodles. Put it on the fire and leave to simmer. When potato is soft, add noodles. Stir until noodles are soft, and serve. c:

And, for a yummy dessert without any garlic involved..

Banana Split
Take one whole banana, slice it lengthways and shove some chocolate inside – buttons or easter egg pieces work well. Wrap up in foil and shove in the fire for around 5 minutes, then scoop out & nom the wonderful squishy banana & chocolate insides.

For the rest of the afternoon, the guys all amused themselves being MANLY – collecting firewood, hitting one another with sticks (which turned into a wonderful display of Morris Dancing) and smashing whole trees on rocks (Jack was particularly good at this).
One of the guys who had only come for a short while, Jared, was picked up – his adorable little white Jack Russell dog escaped from his car and ran around the campsite happily, evading capture for at least 15 minutes. :’D She was SO adorable~ <3 Action shots in the gallery!

As the evening drew in, the wind finally died down and Jack became obsessed with whittling. He carved us all wonderful pointy marshmallow sticks (slicing his hand open in the process because he is MANLY), and we created yet moar wonderful (seductive) s’mores. We then had an epic fireside sing-a-long sesh to Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody before retiring to the big tent to play Truth or Dare (a.k.a., if you remember, Ruth or Dierdre/Brenda or Audrey/Bender or Orgy) when it got dark. The Dares involved Jack rubbing Dairylea cheese triangles onto his bare nipples for me to lick off (he then fashioned himself a stylish top from a plastic bag in order to protect his cheesy nipnips), and then he had to join Dave and Gwyn in a run down to the woods – wearing only their shoes & boxers. Seeing the three white figures disappearing into the darkness down the hill was one of the most hilarious sights of my entire life. xD

Once everyone was decent, we set off a sky lantern – watching it float off down the valley and into the sky was so amazing. <3 The rest of the evening was spent setting fire to bits of Jack’s old hoodie on sticks and dancing around the fire, using them as FLAMING GEETARS. Ohh yeeah. That night was much warmer than the first – the wind was CLAM, so I finally got some sleep! Jack & I were so cosy in our cocoon of blankets. :’D

☆ DAY THREE
We awoke again to the sound of the cockerel crowing and tummies rumbling. We spent almost the entire morning cooking and eating things – someone invented a very groovy contraption for frying bacon and eggs, which consisted of toasting prongs wedged into the disposable BBQ grill, wrapped in foil. It worked a treat! While we girls sat around the fire drinking tea and nibbling on biccies, the MEN started up an epic game of British Bulldogs – Jack was a superninja as always and kept evading attack. ;D

In the field down the hill, some cows suddenly appeared – around half were black and the other half were brown, save for one sad-looking grey cow. All the black ones grouped together, as did the browns – the poor grey cow didn’t know where to go! D: So he went and sulked by the fence. It was so sad. ;3; But a little while later, we looked back to discover they had all intermingled – the grey one now had a friend. :’D WE CAN LEARN A LOT FROM THESE COWS.

I almost didn’t want to pack up and go home – I enjoyed myself so much! But it’s great to be back in civilisation again, with a comfy bed – although my hair still stinks of smoke, despite the fact I’ve washed it several times. :’D I’ll definitely be holding a camp like that for my 18th in the hot week of May – I really can’t wait. <3

As a last little thing, I’d just like to discuss Easter. I hope all yours were enjoyable – I’ve definitely been savouring my delicious chocolate eggies! Celebrations like Easter are complex, because people celebrate them for different reasons – something that has bugged me over the years is that Christians (I’m generalising here – I know not all are like this) seem to frown upon those who don’t acknowledge the “Easter Story” of Jesus’s resurrection – something I, as an Atheist, don’t believe in. I used to have a couple of Christian friends who tried to make me feel guilty for enjoying my chocolate eggs at Easter, telling me that I was “forgetting the real reason behind Easter”. Now, this is very ironic, because the Easter celebration was around well before the Christian religion even existed – it has very early roots as a festival to celebrate spring and rebirth (hence the egg as a symbol). Therefore, surely I am quite justified in enjoying my lovely chocolate eggies? I don’t need to consider the Christian connotations, and certainly don’t need to be made to feel as though I’m celebrating Easter for “the wrong reasons”. It could be argued that the Christian religion has hijacked both of its “main celebrations” – Christmas, before the religion came about, was celebrated as the winter solstice by older civilisations – and the idea of gift-giving came from the legend of St. Nicholas. These Christian friends also questioned my reasons for celebrating Christmas – again preaching it as being a celebration of Jesus’s birth and telling me that my version of the celebration, focussed on gift-giving, was “modern and materialistic”. It’s almost as though they have absolutely no knowledge of any tradition that isn’t of their own religion. :’D Sad, really. What’s funny is that these friends have Christmas trees in their houses as part of the celebration – what on Earth do these have to do with the birth of Jesus? Nothing, that’s what. They’re symbolic of the original winter solstice celebration.

Athiests or anyone else who is not a member of the Christian faith should not be criticised for celebrating occasions such as Christmas or Easter, as their earliest origins are not Christian in themselves. If anything, we’re being more traditional; following the older connotations of the occasions as seasonal festivals. Let us eat our chocolate eggies and open our presents, and the religious among us can do things their way. There is no one “right reason” to celebrate! c:

Now that my throat is almost fully-operational for all its duties (ooh-err), I’ve been back in Sixth Form! It’s been so great to see everyone again. I swear, a miracle happened the day my dad brought home some Calpol. That magical liquid strawberry fairydust has cured me! It’s meant for kids, so I just drunk about a ton of it and it worked wonders. Although, I still have earache. >:

BUT.. CALPOL. Yeah man.

The FunRun was meant to be today, but was cancelled due to bad weather and will now be in May instead – which is very phew-worthy because there was no waay I was going to get my cozzie done in time! :’D By ‘bad weather’, by the way, I mean random storms of rain, hail and snow. Yes, snow. In April. But of course, this is all the fault of global warming! :’D Haa, what a joke.

But anyway, it’s finally Easter Break; which means much nomming on chocolate eggies, sleeping in late, daytime telly and gatherings with friends! On Monday through Wednesday I’m going to a campout for my friend Matt’s 18th (which should be hilarieuse and bon, as our froggy pals say – there will definitely be a blog about that), and then on the following weekend I’ve arranged a movie night at mine. Paranormal Activity is most definitely on the agenda. ;D

Last night, I went to a tapas night at a local pub, which was pretty awesome! I tried a load of food I’ve never even heard of or seen before – such as calamari (squid rings in batter), chorizo (really spicy sausage, which was served on a skewer with button mushrooms) and chilli con carne in pastry. Everything was delicious – and I may have drunk a little too much whiskey with it all. Oopsie. Jack Daniels and I are very good friends.

After waiting and waiting for almost a month after getting my acceptance letter, Manchester Uni’s offer finally came through on UCAS last night! Straight away, I set Cardiff as my firm and Manchester as my insurance, rejecting Durham (man, it felt good to do that – Durham is a top university :’D). I also booked my accommodation for Cardiff – I really hope I get my first choice of Talybont South! I’m so relieved that everything is finally sorted. c:

Just when I thought I was rid of it, it’s back again – badder than ever. Seriously, my throat is so swollen I can’t breathe, drink or eat properly – the pain’s spread to my ears and head, just to make things even worse. What really takes the piss is that I can’t even take painkillers, because swallowing them hurts so much. Hawt damn. You are an evil, wily thing, tonsillitis. Go away. >:

I was meant to be working at the restaurant this afternoon, as a huuge table was booked; but because of this virus, I had to ring in sick (or rather get my mum to ring in for me, seeing as I can’t talk). I feel really bad, because my boss was desperate for waitresses – also, I really need some cash right now! But never mind; as soon as I’m better, I’ll be grabbing plenty of shifts. c:

Despite all this nasty tonsilly business, I’m still one happy girlie! I spent Friday and yesterday at Jack’s; we firstly skipped off downtown and explored our favourite junk store – I swear, that place is a goldmine for trinkets and amazing vintage stuff. I was browsing the shelf with all the old Matchbox cars on, when I spotted the most awesome old folding camera – when Jack saw the look on my face (which was a serious “Jizzed In My Pants” expression), he decided to buy it for me as a three-month-anniversary present. It was only £6! After a bit of scouting around on the interbutts, I found out that it’s a 1920s – 30s model by Ajax, and it’s worth at least £20. The shutter and everything is still operational; I’m so eager to get hold of some film and see if the beauty works! I need to think of a name for her, and take some photos of her for dA. <3 Is that a paradox? Maybe.

We grabbed some munch from Greg’s (including a yummy little chocolate cornflake nest with tiny choccie eggs in), then went to Coffee #1 for a drinky. I had a delicious fluffy hot chocolate with coconut syrup in, called a Bounty, which was ah-may-zing. Om nom nom. Back at Jack’s, we watched Scary Movie 3 (which I’d also bought from the junk shop for £3), which was vair amusant – then his new Paranormal Activity DVD. Ohgawd. I’d seen it when it came out in the cinema, but the second time was just as scary in a way; as I knew what was coming but it still made me jump like crazy. :’D Must trick my parents into watching it.

Yesterday, we had a lie-in until about ten (which is when my tonsillitis kicked in again) and had a nice relaxing day of cuddles, ice cream, and long philosophical chats about the world. <3 Also, after craving Chinese food for the last few weeks, we ordered some; I had chicken in batter with sweet & sour sauce and egg fried rice, and Jack had these yummy-looking deep fried chicken strips in chilli sauce. OM NOM NOM. c:

Augh, I don’t think I’m well enough to be able to go into college tomorrow. >: Luckily though, I won’t be missing anything; I’ve already taught myself the rest of my Physics course, so it doesn’t matter if I don’t go in tomorrow or Tuesday – Physics is the only lesson I have! Ahh, I love my timetable. :’D I guess it’s ice cream and daytime TV for me.

Also ohcrap, I need to make my costume for the Fun Run. I’m going as Pinky, one of the Pacman ghosties! I need to ask my mum to bring me home a load of cardboard boxes and pink display paper from the school she works at. c: IT’LL BE AWESOME ong. I promise to take photos.

So, I’ve been ill at home all day; attempting to numb my tonsils with Neapolitan ice cream, slouching about in my PJs and playing Pokémon – although, after a few hours, technology began to bore me so I did a ton of extra study and organised my notes, which made me feel pretty spiffing, guvnah! c:

But in the time I was browsing the interbutts, I came across an awful lot of whining and moaning about the Health Reform that was passed in America today. Here in England, we’ve had the NHS (National Health Service) running for over sixty years now, which is similar to what will be set up in the new American Reform. A large portion of our taxes goes to the NHS – although some people still don’t like this, perhaps because they don’t particularly use the healthcare system much or have had a negative experience (such as waiting for hours to get treated – not really the NHS’s fault, as hospitals are overcrowded), England and a vast majority of its inhabitants rely on the NHS. Unlike in America, we don’t have to pay for our treatment out of our own pockets if we fall ill, or have to sign up to expensive insurance schemes to cover our asses. A small number of people in the UK are paying for private health insurance, but the rates are so much higher that the NHS is a clear way to go for most people.

With a system similar to the NHS in America, you wouldn’t have to pay for your treatment should you come down with cancer or some other life-threatening disease – nor would families have to do regular fund-raising or struggle to get by in order to afford treatment for relatives with disabilities. My dad has type one diabetes, and without the NHS we would be very poor indeed.

It’s understandable that people are going to be annoyed if their taxes go up – but this is a really, really good cause. It’s worked so brilliantly here in the UK, and it’s horrible to hear so many stories of American families losing a loved member to a fatal disease just because they can no longer afford treatment.

Much more worth ranting about is “Green Tax” – that really IS just a way for the government to squeeze more money out of people, seeing as the reasons behind it (the ridiculous, unscientific “Global Warming”/”Climate Change” jargon) are totally and utterly invalid. We can’t “stop climate change” by reducing our CO2 emissions – because CO2 emissions aren’t making one bit of difference to the atmosphere or climate. The climate isn’t even changing; it’s going about its normal business quite happily. People are just too happy to believe what they hear in the news, jumping on bandwagons to “save the world”. You’re not going to save the world by paying “Green Tax”, you’re going to lose your money and never see it again. I actually cannot stand the thought of my hard-earned money being wasted on “reducing CO2 emissions”, which aren’t even doing any damage. Put it towards improving recycling technology, developing the currently inefficient “renewable energy” methods, and cleaning up all the polluting crap we’ve dumped everywhere. My money is NOT going to be spent solving an imaginary problem.

Onto slightly moar positive nudes – I’m hopefully going into college tomorrow! I can’t stand missing it – I know a lot of people out there would do anything to be able to skip it, but I absolutely love school. The atmosphere is great, I get to see all my wonderful friends, and I actually love to learn. Even when I went to primary school, where I was picked on in some way absolutely every day, I hated being ill and missing class. I guess I’m just really grateful for the opportunities I’ve got, when so many others don’t get the chance. I wish more people could be bothered to make the most of their education, no matter how “clever” they are. It’s so worth it – you’re so much more likely to end up doing a job you’re interested in and happy with, rather than living off the dole in a complete rut.
